The platform domain is the domain your clients use to log in to the platform, visit their dashboard, editor, and view site previews. When your account is created it is automatically assigned a default platform domain. You can customize the subdomain of the default domain or connect a custom domain.
To connect a custom platform domain:
-
From the Dashboard, click White Label and select Custom Domain.
-
In the side panel, click Platform.
-
Next to Connect your own domain, click Connect.
-
Enter your own domain, including the full address.
Note
We recommend using a subdomain of the domain that you own, for example,
editor.example.com
orsites.example.com
. The subdomain needs to be unique, meaning you cannot reuse a subdomain that is already in use. For example, if your site is live withwww.yoursite.com
, then you cannot usewww.
as the subdomain. -
Click Next.
-
Navigate to your hosting provider’s DNS settings.
-
Create a CNAME record and add the Name and Value displayed in the table in your Duda account (the records will differ based on the subdomain you select). We recommend copying and pasting these records from your Duda account to ensure they are entered correctly (click the small square icon to copy the information).
-
Return to the platform and click Save.
Until your custom domain is verified, your clients can use the default domain to access your white label platform. It can take up to 72 hours for your DNS settings to fully propagate.
Note
As a best practice, we recommend configuring your own custom domain for the platform.
To customize the default platform domain:
-
From the Dashboard, click White Label and select Custom Domain.
-
In the side panel, select Platform.
-
Click Edit next to your current domain.
-
Enter your subdomain and click Save.
If your clients already have access to the platform, your previous platform URL will no longer work and you need to send them the new URL.
You can revert from your custom platform domain back to the default platform domain.
To revert to the default platform domain:
-
From the Dashboard, click White Label and select Custom Domain.
-
In the side panel, select Platform.
-
In the Platform section, click the three horizontal dots () icon and select Revert to default.
-
Click Revert to Default.
After clicking revert, your custom domain will no longer work. If your clients already had access, you need to send your default platform URL to your clients for them to access the platform.
You can change your platform domain after the custom domain has been connected.
To change your custom platform domain:
-
From the Dashboard, click White Label and select Custom Domain.
-
In the side panel, select Platform.
-
In the Platform section, click the three horizontal dots () icon and select Change domain.
-
Enter a new domain, including the full address.
Note
We recommend using a subdomain of the domain that you own, for example
editor.example.com
orsites.example.com
. The subdomain needs to be unique, meaning you cannot reuse a subdomain that is already in use. For example, if your site is live withwww.yoursite.com
, then you cannot usewww.
as the subdomain in this section. -
Click Next.
-
Click Save.
Until your changed domain is connected, you can access your platform using your default domain. It can take up to 72 hours for your DNS settings to fully propagate.
I just set up the CNAME record and it's not working.
It can take up to 48 hours for a CNAME record to propagate. You can verify that the CNAME has been added by visiting http://www.whatsmydns.net.
It's showing the Duda dashboard instead.
Normally this happens when the set-up isn't correct. Contact Support if you experience this issue. See, Duda SupportDuda Support for instructions on how to contact support.
I change the domain name and now my clients can't access their sites.
Changing the domain name will render the previous URL unusable. To fix this, simply give your clients your new URL.
