Duda collects sales tax in specific states as required by US law. The sales tax is calculated and charged according to the account owner’s business address as entered in Duda’s billing system. We will not be charging sales tax retroactively.
Following are the US states where Duda will collect sales tax:
-
Arizona
-
Iowa
-
Massachusetts
-
New York
-
Ohio
-
Pennsylvania
-
Tennessee
-
Texas
-
Utah
-
Washington
If your business is exempt from paying sales tax, you can upload an exemption certificate.
Note
To learn more about sales tax per US state, see State and Local Sales Tax Rates, 2026.
Duda uses a third-party tool, ExemptTax, to process and verify exemption certificates.
Note
Duda support can only assist with issues related to uploading your exemption certificate. We cannot answer questions about exemption certificates or provide tax advice.
To submit an exemption certificate:
-
On the dashboard, click your avatar in the upper right corner and select Billing.
-
In the side panel under Billing, click Billing Info.
-
At the bottom of the Business info section, click Submit Certificate. Note that you must add your business name in the Business Info section before you are able to submit a certificate.
-
Follow the on-screen prompts to upload your certificate.
Once the exemption certificate has been processed by ExemptTax, an Active status will display in Duda and if applicable; the expiration date of the certificate. It typically takes 2-3 business days to process and verify your exemption certification.
If your exemption certificate has been marked as Invalid by ExemptTax, you will be charged sales tax on your purchases. Please contact a tax advisor for help.
